Han-Clair Carbonite Cake

So remember this recipe I made here? Yes. It's my favorite. I made it for this party and put a Han solo action figure in it. And then I dusted it with powdered sugar.

Look how yummy those layers are. Ignore the tortured Han hand peeking out and just be amazed by the yummy dessert here.

This is powdered Han. I liked how it looked a little bit later when the sugar dissolved into the chocolate.

Here we are slightly dissolved.

He's all frozen in the chocolate equivalent of Carbonite. Color me obsessed with this dessert.

Freedom! Messy messy freedom.

Make and enjoy this! I SERIOUSLY love it!!!!!! :)

Assorted Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Cupcakes

These are Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcakes that are filled with Chocolate Covered, Peanut Butter, filled Pretzels. Yep. Long name.

In the shape of C3PO, Darth, and R2D2. They look just as good cut up as they do geeked.

Look at that filling. Yummm. They are next to my Cookies and Cream Cupcakes which I decorated to look like Lei and Ewoks. Way WAY too much fun.

To make C3P0, I iced the cupcake with yellow icing, pipped some details with orange, and then put two orange pretzel M&Ms on as eyes. I added some black for eyes and a line'd mouth.

Saw these on this pic on flickr and decided I could make something like it. I piped the sabers, rolled a Reisen flat, cut it up into the shape of a helmet, and iced on the Darth details. It worked like a charm! And then I had a lot of the chocolate caramels left at the party.

See? Yum.

R2D2 cupcakes! They are just iced freehand. Turned out fun. I beeped a lot while serving.

Cloud City Taffy Apple Salad

Looks just like Cloud City, right?

It's also a very weird recipe. I love it but, it's super strange.

It's a lot of strange ingredients that taste EXACTLY like a taffy apple with nuts when all combined. It's strange. But kind of amazing. I added some pink dye to make it go with the pink clouds which are just marshmallows dipped in pink'd white chocolate and some more marshmallows stuck to the sides to add cloud shapes. I found some petal wrappers that worked really well. This was the surprise treat of the party! Everyone looked at it with a questioning gaze and then ate it with gusto. The frog guts ACTUALLY were the more shocking winning dish but, I was happy my friends enjoyed this recipe.

Make and enjoy :)

Taffy Apple Salad
-1 cup sugar
-2 tbls flour
-4 tbls vinegar
-2 eggs
-20 oz pineapple can

Combine the above and bring to a boil. Cook until thick, (low temp). Cool in fridge.

-8 apples
-8 oz cool whip
-2 cups cocktail peanuts

Peel and dice the apples. Mix the sauce and 8 oz cool whip. Fold in fruit and peanuts. Put in fridge until serving.

Eat and be amazed.

Assorted Cookies and Cream Cupcakes

These are vanilla cupcakes with some oreos crushed inside and then one making the case. The outsides are also decorated with oreos and they look like Ewoks and Lei.

They were adorable. And delicious.

Here's a shot of the inside. Next to the image of the cupcake interior below you'll notice the chocolate peanut butter cupcakes that are filled with peanut butter, chocolate filled, pretzels. Those were my favorite. They weren't decorated as Ewoks though, which won my heart. They were decorated as C3PO, Darth, and R2D2. But anyway! Back to these.

GOSH! Look how friggin cute these cupcakes are! I love Ewoks. They are so cute. They make the 3rd movie 1,000 times more adorable and amazing. I messily iced it, pushed some crushed oreos on as the face, piped the hood-line, and covered up any oreo pieces. Then I put two mini oreos in as ears and piped some chocolate eyes and a nose on.

These cupcakes are iced with some vanilla icing I twinged with pink. I stuck two large oreos on the side with some messy icing, piped some black hair bangs, and then used heart and circle sprinkles for her lovely lil face. Loved this!

Both cupcakes went over well. I liked them lots. Hope you kids do too.

Yoda Swamp Soda

This is Yoda Swamp Soda! Or a Mojito. Whichever you'd like to call it.

These are my Star Wars drink stirrers. They are stirrers with the ends wrapped in tin foil with some Sharpie engravings and buttons. They make me endlessly happy.

As did the swamp soda. All minty and delicious. Mark mixed these up too but! Here's a basic recipe for you.
2 oz Bacardi® light rum
1/2 oz peppermint schnapps
1/2 oz Grey Goose® Le Citron vodka (or other lime vodka)
1/2 lime (about 4 wedges)
12 fresh mint leaves
ice
3 oz club soda
2 tsp sugar

Enjoy :)

Blue Milk Cocktail

These are the adult version of Blue Milk. Which, all you hardcore geeks, know is the beverage of choice in the films. Or at least, a beverage in one of the films.

I made these geeky drink stirrers. They are just plastic drink stirrers around the ends of which I wrapped some tin foil. I then took a Sharpie and added some buttons and engravings.

The drink itself was thrown together by Mark himself. It's just a White Russian with a few drops of blue food dye. Here's the recipe for an average one I found on-line.
2 oz vodka
1 oz coffee liqueur
dash cream

Add a few drops blue dye and, tada! You're a nerd.

Death Star Ritz Crackers

These went over SUPER well at the party. They were just way way too fun. And I got mad props for making my own ritz crackers!

I Told people to use them in the Sarlacc Pizza Dip but, they were popping them plain! They were buttery and delicious and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

I got the recipe from this amazing blog here. I would totally make these again with a less pesky shape. Death stars = less than ideal. Although, super geeky. And super fun.

Make and enjoy!

My Blog: The 1st New Comic in Ages

So, this blog is still just a mess. And, story time, I have been terrified to post my new comic here. Thankfully, my roommate who is endlessly amazing told me to get over myself. Most likely you guys would like whatever I put up. And if not, no one is going to make you read. She seems to think you guys find my tone enchanting. She's amazingly smart so, maybe she's on to something. And if not, I can tell her I told her so.

Win win.

I've been preventing putting up this comic since the page crashed. I've made a ton of excuses and then suddenly I was out of excuses. It was time to post this... I went on, this all written and ready to go and WHAM- blogger crashed for over 10 hours.

Fate, telling me not to post. Insecurities flooding back. Roommate telling me to woman up. The problem is, this whole thing can make me insecure. I realized that when I designed these comics I should have tried to be more interesting. I really dropped the ball there. I wouldn't be insecure if these were just epic. Sadly, I made this blog all about me and my life which, as a whole, isn’t all that interesting or epic.

Not by lack of trying, I assure you, but sometimes I just have boring weeks or blah moods.

I should have made my cartoon me more riveting. Or more intriguing. More something. So, I started to brainstorm all the ways my blog could have had more charm. Or still could if I gave the entire thing a facelift. For example!

I could have made this blog a first person point of view saga of the Scooby Doo series. Told from the point of view of Thelma (who was clearly the most awesome character with her orange ensemble and stellar vocabulary), each week would describe the inner workings of Thelma’s mind as she lived through each mystery the Scooby gang tackled. I would never be lacking inspiration because each episode in itself is inspiring. Nor would I be light on humor since every episode was clearly hilarious. Plus, as a character from Scooby Doo, this page would be popping with amazing word play and some truly spectacular onomatopoeia. That’s a win for everybody.

My blog could also have been created to support some sort of a cause or create awareness on an important issue. I could have crusaded across the blogosphere, trying to get people to support good things and joy! Trying to create awareness or spread the cheerful good will toward man. I don’t know what Rainbow Brite was all about but, that seems like the kind of blog she would have. Support rainbows for the kids! I could have been like my childhood idol, guys. And yet, I let the opportunity slip and now no one is supporting rainbows. At least the single ones, double and triple rainbows seem to be getting a lot of attention at present.

On the same token, my blog could have had meaning. Could have been deep. When people read my page, they could have been stunned at the inspiring words I spewed out toward them, amazed at the depths of my soul that were just bared onto the web. You guys could have read my stuff and come away feeling bettered by my writing. The deep issues on deep things could have stayed with you, giving you pause and quiet contemplation, as you puzzled my deepness over. And instead of being shallow and spastic, I’d be artistic and misunderstood. I’d totally quote Shakespeare whenever I could and actually like coffee, or at least pretend to with authenticity. I would seem to vaguely hate everyone, vehemently hate bright colors and cheerleaders, and scowl a lot. I’d probably say “bloody” in a really pretentious way, like it’s a word that Americans COULD say too if they were only deep like me. Sadly, no one is deep like me and when people try to be that deep, it usually backfires and they look like ridiculous hipster posers.

In reality, guys, they are just totally misunderstood. Like I could be, could have been, if I’d only thought of it sooner.

On the other hand, my blog could also have been a total escape from reality. Sunshine and bubble gum and hearts, 24/7. I could have made this a place for fairy tale life where nothing was ever wrong and I pretended like my life was perfection. Written like a Disney movie version of my life, only without the Prince at the moment. Like Jasmine’s life before she met Aladdin. She was totally my favorite Disney Princess, by the way, even if I drew myself in a Belle-esque manner. Belle and I just seem to have more in common- brown eyed girls who like to read, love to travel, and tend to see the best in everybody. Plus, Belle has a pretty day frock and then a friggin’ gown which is a wardrobe I could totally be on board with. Jasmine’s outfit makes her look like an ethnic 90's popstar but, I don’t think I could pull it off exactly.

I try and keep this blog upbeat and I avoid swearing and more adult themes but, still, I think maybe the complete veer off into Disney princess land would make the blog boring eventually. Maybe not at first, and definitely not if I could convince Alan Menken to compose my life, but eventually it'd be dull sunshine. Man. If I could get Alan Menken to compose my blog, it wouldn’t be boring at ALL. Then my life would be Oscar worthy. However, without the complete transformation provided by Disney magic, I am rather certain the Princess lifestyle should be avoided.

I think the easiest way to have made my blog awesome would also be one of the most simple, to just write everything as Dr. Suess would have. Sure, it’d have taken me longer to figure out how to say everything in the right rhythm and pattern but, I’m sure it would lend itself to a can’t miss post every time.

I would truly never post too late, and you readers would not hesitate! My themes would always work out great, but I’ve no rhyming posts to date!

Wow. That little blurb plus the comic's caption took tremendous rhyme effort. Best left to the Doctors of the world, clearly. Not to an amateur such as myself. I just have a measly BA. By Merlin’s beard, that was exhausting.

For now, I guess you’re clearly stuck with me. And these pesky comics. As is. If you don't like them, don't read them. I don't think they're changing. Although it is still fun to imagine how cool I COULD have been. The Scooby Doo blog is particularly tempting. Someday, maybe. If I can ever find some knee highs I can pull off and the time in which I can attempt such a self improvement project. Seems unlikely but, ya never know. In the meantime... that's all she wrote. Hopefully you think it's worth the read :)

My Nana's Chicken & Rice

This is an old recipe I am revamping with better pics and putting up here for you guys because it is SO amazing and SO underrated.

This dish is flavorful, creamy, and rich. It warms you with every bite and makes you ready for a cozy nap when the meal is finished.

This is another dish that my dad's mom made for him and then my mom made for us. It brings me right back to my childhood. Winter nights and taking homework breaks for dinner with the family. This meal plus some broccoli and a roll is pretty much bliss.

I made it for my roomie and friends with great results. Hope your family enjoys it as well :)

FYI- next week I will be posting pics from a Star Wars themed feast I made for a dear friends birthday. You guys should prepare yourselves now for the amount of crazy geekiness that is coming your way.

Chicken & Rice
-3 large chicken breasts
-1 stick butter
-1 cup regular rice
-1 can cream of chicken soup
-1 can cream of celery soup
-1 cup milk
-1 package dry onion soup mix

Line a 9 by 13 pan with foil. Slice 1 stick butter into cubes on bottom of the pan. Pour 1 cup regular rice over butter. Cut breasts into vertical halves. Place 6 half breasts on top of rice. Cover with soups, smearing over chicken, and sprinkle with dry soup mix. Pour milk over entire pan. Cover with foil, sealing tight. Bake at 350 for 2 hours. Remove from oven, carefully (STEAM BURNS!), open foil top. Remove chicken breasts, set aside. Mix rice WELL until creamy. Serve with the chicken (at side as pictured) OR cut up chicken breasts and mix back into the rice casserole and then serve.

Bacon & Egg Cupcakes & Newness!

Yep. You're seeing right.

That is bacon. Lots and lots of bacon on some EXTRAORDINARILY yummy cupcakes!! What you are seeing there, ladies and gentlemen, is a peanut butter cupcake topped with a brown sugar and maple icing, candied maple bacon, and a Cadbury cream egg.

I mean... come on.

As many of you know, this post was supposed to be my Easter recipe post. However, Blogger had a HUGE rebellion against me and refused to upload anything at all.

It was completely and totally uncool. Just saying.

Eventually, with lots of muttering and effort, this page was working again and could even upload things! However, my other page appeared to be down for the count, no matter what I did. I found myself faced with three options.
1) Stop writing stupid comics.
2) Start a new page for the stupid comics.
3) Make one huge epic blog that had both recipes and my stupid comics.

Clearly, as this page has had a devastating overhaul and has a LOT more content now, I went with the monster blog of awesome! Or at least, I think it turned out pretty awesome. Which brings us to the newness. You can now find a blend of all updates- recipes, comics, crafts, photos, etc., here on this one site, under the "Home" tab! You can then also find everything mentioned AND all the rest organized in their respective tabs, (e.g. All Recipes, All Comics, All Crafts).

For those of you just here for the food, DO NOT WORRY! This site will still be dominated by recipes. Like the Bacon and Egg Cupcakes I promise I am getting to!

Dear Gosh, so delicious.

I just also felt I should address the change so no one just coming in here got confused by all this. There is kind of a lot happening in one web-space now but, I think if we all just see where it goes/how this works, it'll all be fine.

That's the hope at least! And now, onto the recipe I am sure you are all now dying for. "Bacon and Egg" Cupcakes were an outstanding dessert. This was my first attempt at making a dessert with Bacon and the results were AMAZING!

People were raving about these cupcakes. I was flattered and blushing with the things people were saying about these lil devils. I even got a marriage proposal after someone took a bite.

Clearly, you need to make these right now. Bacon Cupcakes. Plus, they look so adorable with the little Cadbury eggs settled into bacon nests.

Make and enjoy :)

Bacon & Eggs Cupcakes
*Originally seen Here! At Crazy, Sexy, Delicious. Their cupcakes are more legit*

Make your cake:
- 1 yellow cake mix, prepared according to directions
+ 3/4 cup peanut butter

Bake and allow to cool completely. Should be fluffy and peanut buttery.

Make your brown sugar mixture, a main component of the rest of the cupcake (1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp nutmeg, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1 tablespoon white sugar).

Prep your icing:
- 1 can vanilla icing (I wanted to used can because it is SO sweet and would be the sugar to the bacon but, you can obviously make your own vanilla icing)
+ 1/4 cup maple syrup
+ 1 tbsp "brown sugar mix"

Stir, should be slightly runny but still hold shape. The little sugar granules will add charm, promise. Don't try and smooth them out, you'll just hurt yourself.

Time for the bacon!
- 2 boxes "ready cooked" bacon
- 1/4 cup syrup
-Remaining brown sugar mixture.

Cut the bacon up with a scissors, put into a large mixing bowl. Pour on syrup,  stir to coat. Add 80% or so of the brown sugar mix, stir to coat. Lay parchment paper down on a baking sheet. My oven was at 400, I am not sure if there is a better temp or way to do this as I made all of this up but, put your sugared bacon in the oven and let it cook until it seems caramelized/sizzles some but isn't burning. Remove and sprinkle with that final 20% of sugar mix. Allow it to cool completely! Should be slightly chewy/sticky from the caramelized syrup.

Ice your cupcakes and use the bacon to make nests. Settle mini Cadbury cream eggs into bacon nests (should make 24 cupcakes so, you'll need 2 mini cartons). Serve to your skeptical friends! I'm sure it will be a hit :)
